Tianzige (田字格)
A square divided into four quadrants by a solid cross — the foundational grid for writing Chinese characters. It tells you where each stroke should start and finish.
Good for
- Beginners learning Chinese characters
- Radical and stroke-order drills
- Japanese kanji shape practice
How to use it
- Treat the horizontal line as the character's waist and the vertical line as its centre.
- Check left-right balance against the vertical line.
- Leave a small margin inside the cell instead of filling it edge to edge.
